Cinema Vendome

  The building that includes the famous cinema Vendome was destroyed in 2010 by HAR properties, owned by the Hariri family, to be replaced by the AYA Beirut project. The Vendome stairway was named after the cinema it led to below. Along with al-Hekmeh, it used to be the oldest movie theater in Achrafieh, but its magic lantern was put out early. Developers razed the Cinema Vendome building, leaving a big hole ready to be filled with a new highrise.
